Still-life paintings are always a joy to do! Whether working with the intense colours of soft pastels on emery paper, or trying to control the delicate, elusive tones of watercolour, I aim to create a mood or simply “catch” the soft bloom of fruit or flowers ~ against the smooth hardness of a glass or ceramic pot, or the rougher textures of fabric ~ before it fades.
